Bobby Rydell was born Robert Ridarelli in Philadelphia. It was his father who encouraged him to pursue a career in show business. One of the most sought-after nightclub and concert acts in the country, Bobby Rydell's interest in show business began at the ripe age of four.
Bobby Rydell (born Robert Louis Ridarelli; April 26, 1942) is an American singer, mainly of rock and roll music. In the early 1960s, he was considered a teen idol. His most well known songs include "Wild One" and "Volare" (cover), and he appeared in the movie Bye Bye Birdie in 1963.

The song became a big hit for Rydell, spending 16 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 peaking at No. 2, and was kept from the No. 1 position by Theme from A Summer Place by Percy Faith. The song also peaked at No. 10 on the R&B chart. Outside the US, "Wild One" went to No. 7 in the United Kingdom, and No. 11 in Australia.
