Audio CD, November 29, 1993. Jimmy Rogers may be the most underrated blues player of his, or any era.

Blues legend Jimmy Rogers had not worked steadily prior to cutting these early '70s tracks since 1960. His return on this session's 16 tracks, originally recorded for Black and Blue and now reissued on CD by Evidence, was not a heralded one because there was not much mainstream attention paid to blues at the time.

Jimmy Rogers (June 3, 1924 – December 19, 1997) was a Chicago blues singer, guitarist and harmonica player, best known for his work as a member of Muddy Waters' band of the 1950s. He also had solo hits on the R&B chart with "That's All Right" in 1950 and "Walking By Myself" in 1954.

Jimmy Rogers: Sloopy Drunk. Fine album, but a rather 'sleepy' production. JIMMY ROGERS - gtr/voc, WILLIE MABON - pno, backed by THE ACES: LOUIS MYERS - gtr, DAVE MYERS - bass, FRED BELOW - drums. Article properties: Jimmy Rogers: Sloopy Drunk. Interpret: Jimmy Rogers. Album titlle: Sloopy Drunk. 13. Sloppy Drunk - Version 2. 14. Gold Tailed Bird. Jimmy Rogers and His Trio. In addition to being the rhythmic glue that held Muddy Waters' peerless band together, guitarist Jimmy Rogers was a prolific Chess artist himself through the 1950s. That's All Right was his first Chess single as a leader (he'd backed Muddy in the studio the previous year) serving notice that Muddy's band would be an exceptionally bountiful source of talent for the label.
