Elvis Presley recorded at least 24 songs at Sun Studio in Memphis, Tennessee, between 1953 and 1955. The recordings reflect the wide variety of music that could be heard in Memphis at the time: blues, rhythm & blues, gospel, country & western, hillbilly, rockabilly and bluegrass. Because of the recordings' historical significance in the foundation of rock and roll music, they were inducted into the .  . That's All Right (Mama) was written and recorded by Arthur "Big Boy" Crudup (1947, RCA Victor). Crudup's original title is "That's All Right (Mama)"; on the Sun label, and many later releases, '(Mama)' is omitted: "That's All Right". Recorded: July 5, 1954 (session 1).

Arthur "Big Boy" Crudup (also known as "Pop" Crudup) (August 24, 1905 – March 28, 1976) was a delta blues singer and guitarist. He is best known outside blues circles for writing songs later covered by Elvis Presley (and since covered by dozens of other artists), such as "That's All Right Mama", "My Baby Left Me" and "So glad you're mine", and by many claims, "Blue Suede Shoes".

If Elvis isn't quite as important historically as the Elvis Presley album that preceded it, that's only because it came second - musically, it's a more confident and bolder work than his debut, and in any other artist's output it would have been considered a crowning achievement  .

Arthur Big Boy Crudup - That’s All Right, Mama. Scotty Moore, Elvis Presley’s legendary guitar player, has reportedly passed away at 84 years old. Moore, along with bassist Bill Black, played on Presley’s earliest recordings, including That’s All Right Mama, Blue Moon Of Kentucky, Hound Dog and Jailhouse Rock. That’s All Right, a blues song written and originally performed by Arthur Crudup was covered by Elvis Presley in a Rockabilly form and released as his first single. The song failed to make any impact on the charts but it sure did attract a lot of attention. As Elvis, Scotty Moore and Bill Black were recording at Sun Records studios rather unsuccessfully, Elvis tinkered with the Crudup song at a more upbeat tempo.

Released October 19, 1956. Elvis (1956 Album) Tracklist. Writers Aaron Schroeder, Arthur Big Boy Crudup, Arthur Williams & 17 more. Piano Elvis Presley & Gordon Stoker. More Elvis Presley albums. If I Can Dream: Elvis Presley with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.

Arthur Big Boy Crudup - So Glad You’re Mine. Crudup’s music was slower and more bluesy than Elvis’s, so the rock versions are a bit more energetic and fun. Especially on So Glad You’re Mine, My Baby Left Me and That’s All Right. Hamilton was a big influence on Elvis’s ballad singing. You can hear the similarities in his version of this song. Ultimately, Elvis was chosen by the public to be the one to bring rock and roll to the people and make it the cultural juggernaut that it is.

Elvis Aron Presley’s early musical inspiration was the Pentecostal church, the sound of gospel and the hillbilly music that percolated through Tupelo, Mississippi. Sun founder Sam Phillips was both impressed but unconvinced until Presley ripped into Crudup’s ‘That’s All Right’, which was quickly committed to acetate along with bluegrass hit ‘Blue Moon Of Kentucky’. The King Of Rock’n’Roll had, in a sense, arrived.
