Arthur "Big Boy" Crudup (also known as "Pop" Crudup) (August 24, 1905 – March 28, 1976) was a delta blues singer and guitarist. He is best known outside blues circles for writing songs later covered by Elvis Presley (and since covered by dozens of other artists), such as "That's All Right Mama", "My Baby Left Me" and "So glad you're mine", and by many claims, "Blue Suede Shoes".
If Elvis isn't quite as important historically as the Elvis Presley album that preceded it, that's only because it came second - musically, it's a more confident and bolder work than his debut, and in any other artist's output it would have been considered a crowning achievement .
Arthur Big Boy Crudup - That’s All Right, Mama. Scotty Moore, Elvis Presley’s legendary guitar player, has reportedly passed away at 84 years old. Moore, along with bassist Bill Black, played on Presley’s earliest recordings, including That’s All Right Mama, Blue Moon Of Kentucky, Hound Dog and Jailhouse Rock. That’s All Right, a blues song written and originally performed by Arthur Crudup was covered by Elvis Presley in a Rockabilly form and released as his first single. The song failed to make any impact on the charts but it sure did attract a lot of attention. As Elvis, Scotty Moore and Bill Black were recording at Sun Records studios rather unsuccessfully, Elvis tinkered with the Crudup song at a more upbeat tempo.

Arthur Big Boy Crudup - So Glad You’re Mine. Crudup’s music was slower and more bluesy than Elvis’s, so the rock versions are a bit more energetic and fun. Especially on So Glad You’re Mine, My Baby Left Me and That’s All Right. Hamilton was a big influence on Elvis’s ballad singing. You can hear the similarities in his version of this song. Ultimately, Elvis was chosen by the public to be the one to bring rock and roll to the people and make it the cultural juggernaut that it is.
