At the "Golden Circle" Stockholm is a two-volume album by the Ornette Coleman Trio, documenting concerts on the nights of December 3 and 4, 1965, in the Gyllene Cirkeln club in Stockholm. It marked the beginning of Coleman's contract with Blue Note. The music has been described as "brilliant, optimistic closely unified thematic improvisations". Snowflakes and Sunshine" marked the introduction of his unconventional violin and trumpet playing.

Recorded live at the Golden Circle (Gyllene Cirkeln) in Stockholm on December 3 & 4, 1965. All transfers from the original analog tapes to digital were made at 24-bit resolution. to 4 originally issued on Blue Note BST 84225. to 7 previously unreleased bonus tracks.

I bought Golden Circle, volume 2, when it came out. It was brilliant. But I had left it with the feeling that I was listening to two virtuosos-Ornette on alto, Izenson on string bass- assisted ably but not brilliantly by a good drummer -modern but no standout. When I listened to these three albums with fresh ears, I discovered I was wrong. Recorded in two nights at the Golden Circle in Stockholm, Swedan; Coleman and his trio which included 2 now long departed musicians, David Izenson on bass and Charles Moffet on drums, mesmerized audiences every night with their music. I was long turned off to Ornette even with his early Atlantic recordings since I thought he was out of tune but when I heard the first track, "Faces & Places", I was hooked and started to re-examine those early recordings.

The second night of Ornette Coleman's two-week stand in Sweden was even fierier than the first, if the recorded documents are to be believed. For starters, December 4 was the night that Coleman brought out the violin and the trumpet on the first tune; "Snowflakes and Sunshine" must have taken club-goers by surprise. This is the stronger of the two evenings, but they are both fine records by an under-recognized band in Coleman's development.
