Features Song Lyrics for Steeleye Span's Portfolio album. 6. Black Jack Davy Lyrics. Steeleye Span Lyrics provided by SongLyrics. Lyricapsule: The Surfaris Drop ‘Wipe Out’; June 22, 1963. RIFF’d: Nas’ ‘Nasir’. Lyricapsule: The Byrds Drop ‘Mr. Tambourine Man’; June 21, 1965.

From a personal point of view, it is good to hear the three tracks from "Back in line", as I have yet to get hold of that album. Of these, "Edward" is the most striking, although it does confirm that the band are intent on continuing in the direction started on "Sails of silver". White man" is even less like the folk band we know and love, the mood here being distinctly that of world music.

Flawed though Shanachie's Steeleye Span catalog is, it's hard to pick fault with Portfolio. the lengthier album take that demanded restoration (the same substitution was made for Shanachie's reissue of the Now We Are Six album); and the cropping of a few seconds of speech from the conclusion of "New York Girls. Little things indeed, and all are readily balanced by the inclusion of the folk-metal "Alison Gross," the haunting "Black Jack Davy," and the avant melancholy of "Fighting for Strangers.

Adequate, but far from complete sampler of Steeleye's career. The CD draws far to heavily from "Back In Line" (on of the band's weaker albums) while ignoring "Ten Man Mop" altogether. 6 people found this helpful. CD album released in 1989. Maddy Prior Woman In The Wings CD NEW SEALED 1994 Remastered Folk Steeleye Span. Up for grabs is this remastered CD by Maddy Prior. On the BGO label, the catalogue number isBGOCD215. Ten Man Mop or Mr. Reservoir Butler Rides Again is the third album by Steeleye Span, recorded in 1971. Of all their albums, it is the most acoustic and it also has considerable Irish influence. Steeleye Span - The King (The Best Of) is an original CD album complete with all artwork & is in excellent condition.
