Rubber Bullets" is a song by the English band 10cc from their self-titled debut album. Written by Kevin Godley, Lol Creme, and Graham Gouldman and produced by 10cc, "Rubber Bullets" was the band's first number one single in the UK Singles Chart, spending one week at the top in June 1973. It also reached No. 1 in Ireland and No. 3 in Australia, but it fared relatively poorly in the United States where it peaked at only No. 73.

Most tracks are standard 70's compilation album stuff, but there are a few weird additions on this album. Notably the Kings Singers version of "Life on Mars", The Byrds "Chestnut Mare" & "In My Own Time" by Family.
And the album comes dipped in ’70s UK culture. In a press release, frontman Ade Blackburn says, It’s a satirical take on British culture - high and low. It fascinates me that people look back on the 1970s as the glory days. First single Rubber Bullets is a dark, fuzzy hookfest, very much in the tradition of the music Clinic have been making for so many years. Below, listen to the track and check out the Wheeltappers And Shunters tracklist.

So, I bought the record and was both engaged and confused by the album as a whole, which was clearly clever and skilled, but somehow missing a certain conviction and depth that I was drawn to.
