Lindberg is an album by Robert Charlebois and Louise Forestier, released in 1968. The album was originally released as Robert Charlebois avec Louise Forestier, but came to be better known as Lindberg after its most famous and influential song.
Album · 1968 · 9 Songs. The aftershocks of the Summer of Love extended far beyond its original epicenter. Genteel Québécois singer Robert Charlebois got swept up in the shifting cultural tide, re-emerging in 1968 as a madcap psychedelic-rock visionary alongside budding vocalist Louise Forestier. The duo harmonize in ecstatic unison on sing-alongs like California and Lindberg, as if entranced by the same cult-induced spell. But their lone joint album isn’t all hippy-dippy bliss; on the epic acid-funk jam Engagement, Charlebois unleashes enough hoarse hysterics to out-freak Can’s Damo Suzuki
Robert Charlebois' second album timidly begins to move outside of the French singer/songwriter style that marked his first years. Arranger and bandleader François Cousineau respects the jazz feel established by Paul de Margerie on the first album. Les Ouaouarons," "Ta Chambre," and "Monument National" follow the Jacques Brel-Félix Leclerc tradition and are mostly inconsequential . Like his first album, Robert Charlebois, Vol. 2 has little to offer to the casual fan, especially since none of these songs would survive in the singer's repertoire. Only completists or fans of French chanson will want this album, which is badly recorded (and badly remastered for the CD reissue).
