If you like lute music, this album should be in your collection. I can see now why the Royals back then hired musicians like this. Very nice wihen drinking your mead and with a fist full of roasted meat. Nobody breathed as much life into this music as did Julian Bream. As compared with the LP, the CD contains 2 extra tracks from the now-disappeared Lute Music of Dowland LP, but is missing the Mudarra Fantasia, which can be found on Music of Spain.

Sleeve Notes – Jeremy Noble. Made in Germany by TELDEC Telefunken-Decca Schallpl. Ges. mb. from Master Recordings of RCA. The sleeve notes are in English, German and French. Orthophonic High Fidelity.
