The Red Hot Chili Peppers is the debut studio album by American rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers, released on August 10, 1984 on EMI Records. The album was produced by Gang of Four guitarist Andy Gill, and is the only album to feature Jack Sherman on guitar. Sherman was in the band as a replacement for founding member Hillel Slovak, who had left the band along with founding drummer Jack Irons before the album was recorded

Drummer Chad Smith of Red Hot Chili Peppers told Rolling Stone of their new album: ‘We all have high hopes that it’s going to take off and we’re going to do something very different and unique. Photograph: Christopher Polk/Getty Images for Coachella. Air slap bass at the ready: Red Hot Chili Peppers will headline 2016’s Reading and Leeds festival. Having topped the bill at the event in 2007, 1999 and 1994, the Californian funk-rock group will make their return to the annual event in August. It’s always a pleasure to play at Reading and Leeds and it’s an honour to be invited back to play again in 2016, said Slaves. The crowds have been good to us and we are always very grateful. The lineup is always a good’un and we’re looking forward to being part of it and taking things up another level this time. Reading and Leeds festival takes place 26–28 August 2016.

The best Red Hot chili peppers album. Funky metal, metalish funk, whatever you want to call it this was the Red hot chili peppers. They had a sound they never had before and never duplicated ever again on this album. If you pick up this album expecting it to be like their other albums you will be disappointed because in this album we see the Red hot chilli peppers attempting to mould into the more mainstream rock genre and they do it effectively. This album seems to have a more emphasis on flea and catchy bass lines (hence the album art) and less emphasis on guitar (unlike the previous albums).
