The word outlaw carries a specific meaning which does not imply criminal intent, but rather means the club is not sanctioned by the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) and does not adhere to the AMA's rules. The club originally had six members, there is a misconception that the word "disciples" was intentionally misspelled to distance themselves from any type of religion. However, in the early days of the club, some founding members went to Mexico to have their patches made, and the misspell was unintentional, but stuck.

Great split 4-track EP featuring 4 different Kansas City bands of the time and I think an obscure and important piece of Kansas City punk/indie history. I believe this came out in '88 or '89 because I actually won my copy on a local community radio station when Platonic Bondage was in the studio. I was the "first and only" caller! Sadly, I may still have the cassette of this show gathering dust somewhere. Sin City Disciples are fairly legendary in KC punk history. Other than the radio show with Platonic Bondage, I've never heard of any of the other bands before or since. The Sin City Disciples track is fairly representative of their booze-and-acid fueled neo-blues/cowpunk/psychobilly sound (and the track does sound like it may have been recorded live, which was where they were at their best.) Platonic Bondage's "One More Time", while also very boozy, is a strange combination of a kind of indie/skaterock sound with drunken, country-fried vocals which seem appropriate for a song which I'm going to say is about midwestern teenage summer romance. The real gem for me is Kelly Girls "What's That" with a more sort of introspective garage-y skaterock sound (it really does need to be in a skate video) and that x-factor that just makes a great track out of something that could easily have been very mediocre. Nymbies "Chromatic Lust" is probably the weakest track here, as it is a little too poppy but with no real hook or anything that sets it apart from a million other bands. And no, I will not sell my copy!
