Heretic is the seventh studio album by the Florida death metal band Morbid Angel. This would be their last under Earache Records, as the band decided not to renew its contract, and also the last to feature Pete Sandoval and with Steve Tucker until his return on 2017's Kingdoms Disdained. The album was recorded at Diet of Worms Studios by Juan Gonzalez. Heretic is the first album that was not recorded at Morrisound Recording.

Covenant is the third official full-length album by Florida-based death metal band Morbid Angel. It was released on June 22, 1993 through Earache Records in Europe and Giant Records in North America. Covenant was the band's breakthrough album due to their contract with Giant Records and its widespread exposure on MTV's Headbangers Ball, as well as the music video for 'God of Emptiness' appearing on Beavis and Butt-head.

morbid angel album get this one. YES! That is exactly how I describe this album. Somehow, impossibly so, it is really fast and really slow at the same time. Heretic has the most counterpoint of any Morbid Angel album to date and that gives each track an underlying layer of depth hitherto undertaken in Morbid Angel’s entire catalogue. Beneath the Hollow is one the best songs Morbid Angel ever composed and the counterpoint on Curse the Flesh when the chorus kicks in gives it more sonic nuance and sophistication. They’re are the trademark Morbid Angel otherworldly dynamic moments like on God of Our Own Divinity.

Morbid Angel is as intense and ferocious as they can be in this album and the minor imperfections are turned into strength due to the raw thrash-like nature of the writing. Another major success of the album is its memorability. Every track is a monument by itself. Covenant’ was the album that gave a big break to not just Morbid Angel, but to some extent the death metal genre as well. The album caught both commercial success and critical acclaim and that is quite a feat. Covenant’ is Morbid Angel at its catchy best, without compromising on riff quality.
