Imagine is the second studio album by John Lennon after his departure from the Beatles. Recorded and released in 1971, the album's musical arrangements are more elaborate compared to the basic, small-group arrangements of his first album, John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band. Imagine is the most popular of Lennon's solo albums and the title track is considered by many to be one of Lennon's finest songs. In 2012, the album was voted 80th on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the "500 Greatest Albums of All Time".

The "Imagine" album has become a classic. Released in 1971, Imagine was the follow-up to John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band – Lennon’s first real solo album since leaving The Beatles. While Plastic Ono Band remains one of the most stark and harrowingly personal records ever made, Imagine combined the introspection of that album with John Lennon’s ability to produce outstanding commercial records with great melodic flair. Lennon himself called the album uncompromisingly commercial. The Imagine album was recorded in Lennon’s home studio at Tittenhurst Park, his 72 acre estate in Ascot about 30 miles outside of London. It is produced by him, Phil Spector and Yoko Ono, and features one other Beatle helping out – namely George Harrison.
If I could open my mouth Wide enough for a marching band to march out They would make your name sing And bend through allies and bounce off all the buildings. I wish we could open our eyes To see in all directions at the same Oh what a beautiful view If you were never aware of what was around you. And it is true what you said That I live like a hermit in my own head But when the sun shines again I'll pull the curtains and blinds to let the light in.
I remember that album relating to my life so much. I was this young kid at school who didn’t fuck with the jocks but also wasn’t a nerd. I didn’t really fit in anywhere at all. ‘Hybrid Theory’ from front to back felt like what I was going through. It was also the realisation that I wasn’t the only person who felt this way. That band has done more for other people than any of that band can ever imagine. That’s the power of music. And he's not wrong - 'Hybrid Theory' is basically a masterpiece.

Imagine is a much calmer (saner?) album where Lennon has at least partially redeemed himself. Outstanding tracks include the title song, "Jealous Guy" & "Oh My Love". But Lennon had yet to clear the air on everything; "How Do You Sleep" is a scathing attack on Paul McCartney that might have been more at home on Plastic Ono Band. This version of Imagine (the album) is remastered & is better for it. John Lennon will be best remembered for this album &, though it doesn't quite measure up to Plastic Ono Band, it's still an excellent album
