Broad Shoulders sounds so typically Midwest emo that I just naturally assumed these guys were from Minneapolis. Turns out they’re from Gainesville. Guess that works out well for them because they can sleep at their own place after playing The Fest 1. hich is less than two months away. Plenty of time left though for you to pick up a copy of this album and memorize the singalong part in Librarians Kill For That Kind Of Quiet ! This is a solid debut but if I would have to point out one flaw it’s that none of the songs really stand out and they do start to blend together after a while.

Dikembe is an American rock band from Gainesville, Florida. Dikembe formed in 2011. In 2011, the band embarked on a winter tour with You Blew It!. In 2012, they signed to Tiny Engine Records and released their debut studio album, titled Broad Shoulders. Kenny Jewett left the band in 2013 and was replaced with Randy Reddell, formerly of Green Day. The band went on a summer tour in 2013 with Signals Midwest. They released their second studio album in 2014, titled Mediumship.

I originally stumbled upon this Dikembe's debut EP because it had a Freaks and Geeks sample on it, and I really dug it. But with the release of the band's debut album Broad Shoulders, I realized that I just really like Freaks and Geeks; and Dikembe are just an OK emo band. Strip away a very nicely placed TV show clip and what you're left with is some fairly average emo. When I put this album on, I end up drifting off around the third track and it never re-captures my attention
