Ed Reavy was perhaps the greatest composer of Irish dance tunes of the 20th century, and musicians have played his compositions on dozens of recordings and in countless kitchen and pub sessions around the world. Moloney also gathered together musicians like Liz Carroll, Brendan Mulvihill, and Maureen Fitzpatrick to play some of Reavy's tunes as a tribute to the composer.

A prolific composer of Irish/Celtic music, Ed Reavy was paid tribute by a group of musicians (led by producer Mick Moloney) with this album, in which various formations perform his work. Reavy himself is heard as well, turning in an excellent effort on fiddle. Recorded in the 1970s, using field equipment, the tracks produce a great big woolly ramshackle feeling, with good-natured Irishness working its magic. Well worth seeing back in the klight.
