Ross collaborated with songwriter Leon Ware and, together, the duo wrote hits for artists such as Michael Jackson, The Miracles and Marvin Gaye. Among the hits were the Top 20 "I Wanna Be Where You Are" and "I Want You". T-Boy had a falling out with Ware during recording sessions for Marvin Gaye's I Want You album. He quit the project and set out to become a singer in his own right, releasing his first album for Motown Records in 1979, Changes. Despite performances from such artists as jazz pianist Joe Sample, the album sold only 12,000 copies

Ross is a 1978 studio album/compilation released by American singer Diana Ross on the Motown label. The album was a mixture of older tunes Ross recorded and newer recordings, side A consisting of four tracks recorded in 1978 and Side B of material recorded between the years 1971 and 1975, but remixed and/or extended by Motown in-house producer Russ Terrana specifically for the Ross album. Ross peaked at on the US Pop Albums chart, and on Black Albums

T-Boy, Ware, and Gaye created After the Dance. Ware originally waxed the songs on the I Want You album, but Berry Gordy wanted Gaye on the tracks, so they were done again. When T-Boy gave Gaye some strong input at one of the sessions, he was dismissed from that and all future sessions. After dissolving his association with Ware, T-Boy floated around until 1979 when he released a solo album, Changes, which took the place and reused the catalog number of an unissued Jermaine Jackson album. The smooth set consisted of songs mainly written by T-Boy, Joe Sample, and Billy Brown.

T-Boy had a falling out with Ware during recording sessions for Marvin Gaye's I Want You album. Despite performances from such artists as jazz pianist Joe Sample, the album sold only 12,000 copies. Frustrated with the business, Ross retired from music in the early 1980s, returning to Detroit, where he lived in seclusion, even from family members. During the weekend of June 22–23, 1996, police found the decaying bodies of Ross and his wife, Patricia Ann.

While Ross has his sights set on a 10th album, it’s no surprise that the founder of MMG, ambassador of Luc Belaire sparkling wine, owner of 10 Wingstop franchises, and the host of Thursday night’s 2017 MTVU Woodie Awards is looking to further diversify his endeavors. He’s working on his first independent film, which both he and Gucci Mane will be executive-producing. Ross said they plan to start filming this summer. Let’s get it out on the streets. Let’s do something dope. Do you have a guilty pleasure? The First 48. It ain’t really nothing to like, it’s actually a bunch of f-- up s- but I try to find something in it. Whatever that is. Most embarrassing quality?
