Bette Davis Eyes is the lead single from Kim Carnes‘ sixth album Mistaken Identity. It was written by Donna Weiss and Jackie Deshannon in 1974. Jackie DeShannon first recorded the song for her 1975 album New Arrangement. Kim’s version of Bette Davis Eyes became a hit, topping the Billboard Hot 100 in 1981. Internationally, it topped the charts in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Norway, South Africa, Spain and Switzerland.

Everyone of the breeders I knew back then loved Bette Davis Eyes but truth be told the rest of the album sucked. Her Voyeur album on the other had was great and had more than a few great songs popular with the hip crowd and the rise into Synthpop.
