That's the Groovy Thing" is typical of Bostic's rowdy singalong rhythm & blues formula. The rest of the tunes are magnificent examples of the man's commanding mastery of his instrument and his arresting ability to transform any melody into a musical analogue of passionate lovemaking. A sampler like this can stand on its own but will also inspire some listeners to track down all of Bostic's recorded works, especially as presented by the Classics Chronological Series.
