Metallica Friday, August 4 University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale In the '80s and early '90s, Metallica almost single-handedly brought thrash metal to pop-level relevancy. Its decline since, however, has been steep and consistent. That is until recently, when the band’s latest full-length, Hardwired. To Self-Destruct, reestablished Metallica as a force to be reckoned with. Not since 1991 has Metallica moved with such purpose, motivation an. ell, fun. Diehard fans are enjoying a remarkable 2017, as this return to form coincides with the band’s first North American tour since.

Metallica (also known as The Black Album) is the fifth studio album by American heavy metal band Metallica and was released on August 12, 1991 through Elektra Records to critical acclaim. Metallica produced five hit singles that are considered today among the band's best-known songs: "Enter Sandman", "The Unforgiven", "Nothing Else Matters", "Wherever I May Roam", and "Sad But True", also Don't Tread on Me was released as a promo single. The band promoted the album with a series of tours.

This is Metallica's best album in my opinion. It takes you back to what was going on in the early 90's. Wherever I May Roam", "Sad But True" are just a couple of the other gems on this album. 7 people found this helpful. Format: VinylVerified Purchase. I LOVE the actual music, but the 2nd vinyl skips on both sides. Music never sounded so good. This album in this format, changed me from a Metallica fan to a huge fan with a tremendous respect for all the work they had to put in at the studio.
