The Allman Brothers Band (album). The Allman Brothers Band is the debut studio album by American rock band the Allman Brothers Band. It was released in the United States by Atco Records and Capricorn Records on November 4, 1969 and produced by Adrian Barber. Formed in 1969, the Allman Brothers Band came together following various musical pursuits by each individual member
Blending rock, blues, country, and jazz, the godfathers of Southern rock in all its wild, woolly glory.
The Allman Brothers Band fame exploded with their live-recorded album in 1971 that featured a concert they played in New York called At Fillmore East. The album charted at N. 3 on the Billboard Top Pop Albums and the Allman Brothers Band became known as one of the great rock n roll bands of the time. Unfortunately, Duane Allman was killed in a motorcycle accident three months after the release of the album and a year later bassist Oakley was also fatally killed in a similar accident.
Beginnings, released in 1971, was a double album, combining The Allman Brothers Band's first two albums, The Allman Brothers Band and Idlewildsouth respectively, on one disc. It may just be my personal opinion, but I think the Allman Brothers are the kings of southern rock. While they lost guitarist Duane Allman to a tragic motorcycle accident after only a few years together, they continued to make great albums (such as the classic Eat A Peach) even after his death and dominate the other great southern rock bands of that time .
