Wild and Peaceful is the fourth studio album, and sixth album of new material released by the funk band Kool & the Gang, and is their commercial breakthrough album. The album was released in 1973 and was hugely successful on the Billboard R&B chart reaching and charting for 36 weeks. It also reached on the Pop charts, making it the band's first entry into that chart's Top 40. The album spawned the band's first 3 Top 10 singles.

Jungle Boogie" was first released on the Kool & The Gang album, Wild & Peaceful, in October 1973. A month later, November 24, 1973, the track was released as a single, with the little recognized "North, South, East, West" as the B-side. With the million-selling success of "Jungle Boogie" and the success of other singles, "Funky Stuff" and "Hollywood Swinging," the album was quickly certified gold by the RIAA, the band's first certified gold album. Kool & the Gang’s 1974 album Light of Worlds and 1975 album Spirit of the Boogie as the greatest achievements of the band, with the 1975 single Summer Madness gaining much attention. The late 1970s saw a lull in Kool & the Gang’s output except for the album Open Sesame, which yielded the title track Open Sesame, achieving some success as part of the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack and winning a Grammy Award
