Complete your The Crazy People collection. out in 1968, while Fisher's double-album set came out in 1969). Essentially a tax-scam LP (or at least in the tax-scam family), to me, the LP is a work of art, albeit one that was largely accidental (Kitchen was in it for a quick buck), and winds up being quite an experimental LP. I wouldn't recommend it to psych fans, as it's not really psychedelic in the common sense; rather I think those with far-reaching musical tastes outside of psych and/or rock would rather enjoy this (esp. if you like stuff like Negativland, for example).

Bedlam (Johnny Kitchen Presents The Crazy People) (Remastered). One of the strangest records to ever come out of Canada, the Crazy People's "Bedlam" album was recorded in Burnaby, British Columbia in1968. Mixing equal parts weirdness, political satire, comedy and psychedelic sound collages, "Bedlam" is one of a long line of interesting obscure albums to come from the stable of the mysterious, legendary Los Angeles based trepreneur known as Johnny Kitchen.
Much of the Crazy People legend is couched in mystery and subject to various rumors and speculation. It is thought, because of the label it is on, that the band was actually an exploitation studio project rather than a proper combo. The most plausible theory is that it is the brainchild of Johnny Kitchen, whose name may seem terribly arcane to the casual music fan but is well-known among '60s collectors despite the fact that his identity remains a complete enigma. Crazy People's Bedlam precedes Fischer 's debut by nearly a year, and, in fact, it is known that Kitchen was in Canada during 1968, involved in another Condor release, The World With the Trio of Tyme.
