Louis Charles Antoine de Beaufranchet, Comte de Beaufranchet d'Ayat, seigneur d'Ayat, de Beaumont, de Saint-Hilaire, etc. (22 November 1757 – 2 July 1812) was a French general and politician under the French First Republic and French First Empire. He was the son of Marie-Louise O'Murphy and Jacques de Beaufranchet.

Charles Chaynes (11 July 1925 – 24 June 2016) was a French composer. Chaynes was born in Toulouse in 1925. He studied at the Conservatoire de Paris with Darius Milhaud and Jean Rivier. In 1951 he won the Prix de Rome with the cantata Et l'homme se vit les portes rouvrir. During his stay at the Villa Medici in Rome he wrote the First Concerto for String Orchestra and the Ode for a Tragic Death.

Jean-Louis Petit (1674 – 1750) was a French surgeon and anatomist. First postulated that ‘carpal dislocations‘ were in fact fractures of the distal end of the radius. Inventor of the petit-type tourniquet to suspend circulation of blood quickly and easily while minimizing pain. Marked a transition in surgery from managing blood loss to preventing blood loss.

Jean-Louis Michel (born 1945) is a French oceanographer and engineer. He discovered subsea intervention in 1969 with the French Navy as an officer at the Groupe des Bathyscaphes headed by Captain Georges Houot. In 1985, Jean-Louis Michel (along with marine geologist Robert Ballard) led a team of French and American explorers who found the wreckage of the RMS Titanic. Jean-Louis Michel Pierrot (1761 – February 18, 1857) was a career officer general in the Haitian Army who also served as President of Haiti from April 16, 1845 to March 1, 1846
