Linda Jones (December 14, 1944 – March 14, 1972) was an American soul singer with a strong gospel-influenced style. Jones was born in Newark, New Jersey. She started singing in her family's gospel group, the Jones Singers at the age of six. Her first recording was "Lonely Teardrops" under the name of Linda Lane on Cub Records in 1963. She was found performing at a local club by songwriter Jerry Harris who introduced her to producer George Kerr

Let It Be is a 1970 British documentary film starring the Beatles and directed by Michael Lindsay-Hogg. The film documents the group rehearsing and recording songs for their twelfth and final studio album Let It Be, in January 1969. The film includes an unannounced rooftop concert by the group, their last public performance. Released just after the album in May 1970, Let It Be is the final original Beatles release.

A Portrait of Linda Jones" was released by Turbo Records sometimes in early 1972 with catalogue number TU-7004 . The same recording was also inclued months later on the album "Let It Be Me"; this time vocals were correctly placed in the mix. "Don't Go (I Can't Bear To Be Alone)" was written by Al Goodman of The Moments - who is also responsible for the short notes that appear on the back cover of the album - along with Nate Edmonds and Sharon Seiger.
