Malefactor Ade, recorded in 1989 and originally released in a tiny run on the . indie Glass before finally showing up on a Drag City CD over a decade later, is one of the least essential Red Krayola albums. Recorded in Berlin in a single day by Red Krayola mainstay Mayo Thompson and a pickup band of German jazz musicians including t Albert Oehlen, who would go on to contribute to the next two Red Krayola albums as well, and the fairly well-known avant-garde reedsman Rudinger Carl, this brief album is bursting with ideas. This is not the album to discover the Red Krayola with, although there's more than enough of interest to devotees.

Reissue of The Red Krayola's 1989 album ‘Malefactor, Ade’ - originally issued on the UK’s Glass Records, which had arranged several years earlier for the first actual release of Mayo Thompson’s 1970 solo LP, ‘Corky’s Debt To His Father’. This was the first Red Crayola record release in five years. The fearlessness with which genres are converted can be disarming, but stick to it - you’ll find listening an utter triumph. Malefactor, Ade’ was reissued on CD by Drag City in the year 2000.

Malefactor, Ade. Exclusive Prime pricing. Malefactor, Ade. "Please retry". Originally recorded in Berlin,Germany in just one day,'Malefactor Ade' was first put out in a small quantity in 1989. But didn't show up as a domestic Drag City label release until ten years later. As for your typical Red Krayola piece, it's okay. Not great but decent. Tunes I found to my liking were the bluesy "Baby Jesus Frog", the offbeat one-minute "Blue Jeans", "Franz Von Assisi", "Sex Machine", "The Coaster" and the punk-like "Break A Leg".
