Has he ever felt like this? And I know that you'd be here right now If I could have let you know somehow I guess. Though it's been a while now I can still feel so much pain Like a knife that cuts you the wound heals But the scar, that scar remains. I know I could have saved a love that night if I'd known what to say Instead of makin' love we both made our separate ways And now I hear you found somebody new And that I never meant that much to you To hear that tears me up inside And to see you cuts me like a knife I guess. I listen to our favourite song Playing on the radio Hear the DJ say loves a game of easy come and easy go But I wonder does he know Has he ever felt like this And I know you'd be here right now If I could have let you know somehow I guess.

By October 1988, Poison’s sophomore album was already a multi platinum smash. Then its chart-topping power ballad took the band to the next level. The scrappy glam metal foursome from Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, were relentlessly zigzagging across the United States in a mini Winnebago in support of their indie-label debut album, Look What the Cat Dragged In, opening for fellow big-haired rockers Ratt and Cinderella. Nevertheless, Poison released Every Rose Has Its Thorn as a single on Oct. 12, 1988; by Christmas, it had topped the Billboard Hot 100, granting the group its only Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 hit to date and eventually pushing Open Up and Sa. hh! 5x platinum.

Poison - Every Rose Has It's Thorn. The music video to "Every Rose" was similar to those filmed for other 1980s power ballads. It features Michaels in a cowboy hat and country attire sitting down on a stool playing the guitar and singing along to the song in a dimly lit room with one strobe light, interspersed with various clips from the band's 1988 tour. Every Rose Has Its Thorn" became the group's first (and only to date) number-one single on the Billboard Hot 100; it climbed to the top during the two last weeks of 1988 and the first week of 1989.
