Label: Decca Music Group Ltd. Fischer's passionate and often emotionally resonant program brings together four post-Romantic works for violin and orchestra that are not traditional concertos: Ottorino Respighi's Poema Autunnale, Josef Suk's G Minor Fantasy, Ernest Chausson's Poème and Ralph Vaughan Williams' The Lark Ascending. Aside from the ferocious single-movement concerto by Suk, these are largely melancholic poems that follow the same dramatic shape.

Julia Fischer (born 15 June 1983, in Munich) is an acclaimed German classical violinist and pianist. She teaches at the Munich University of Music and Performing Arts and performs up to 60 times per year. On 1 January 2008, at the Alte Oper in Frankfurt, Fischer performed Camille Saint-Saëns' Violin Concerto No. 3 in B minor as the solo violinist, and Edvard Grieg's Piano Concerto in A minor as a pianist, two of the most technically demanding concertos.

Album · 2011 · 4 Songs. Poema autunnale for violin & orchestra. By Ottorino Respighi - Yakov Kreizberg, Julia Fischer & Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte Carlo. 2. Fantasy Opus 24. Yakov Kreizberg, Julia Fischer & Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte Carlo. 3. Poème, Op. 25. By Ernest Chausson.

Julia Fischer's Poème is an excellent album for fans of late-Romantic and post-Romantic violin classics, essentially oriented toward melancholy coloration and passionate expressions. The Poema autunnale by Ottorino Respighi, Poème by Ernest Chausson, and The Lark Ascending by Ralph Vaughan Williams are tone poems that feature the violin as soloist and maintain either a lyrical or reflective atmosphere for most of their duration

Julia Fischer follows her extraordinary Grammy-nominated recording of the fiendish Paganini Caprices with a contrasting album − a lyrical and poetic set of impressionistic works for violin and orchestra. Comprising four substantial pieces, this unique program is headed by Suk’s virtuosic Fantasy, a mini-concerto that is now justifiably finding its way into the concert repertoire. It is accompanied by two well-known tone poems – the elegant Poème by Chausson and the English pastoral The Lark Ascending by Vaughan Williams
