Founded in 1966 as Bruno's Blues Band by guitarist Phil Miller, his elder brother, pianist Steve Miller, drummer Pip Pyle and bassist Jack Monck, the band gigged around London for a few years. In 1968, saxophonist Lol Coxhill joined them, and the band's name was changed to Steve Miller's Delivery. In 1969, the band teamed up with blues singer Carol Grimes and bassist Roy Babbington replaced Monck. The resulting line-up recorded and released one album: Fools Meeting. Although Grimes wanted to appear as a band member, the record company released the album under "Carol Grimes.
CAROL GRIMES, BIOGRAPHY. com Biography I was born in London. A long time ago when bombs were falling from the skies: there were no Bananas, and radio was the music and the word. The years passed and then, in 1959 I fell in love with Ray Charles and Ella Fitzgerald. It was Margie Hendricks roaring out the chorus of Night Time is the Right Time on a cafe Juke Box that ‘made me wanna holler, made me wanna sing’ and the voice of Ella on her hit of those times ‘Every time we say goodbye
Carol Ann Grimes (born 7 April 1944) is a British singer and songwriter. In 1969, she joined the band Delivery and recorded one album before departing for a solo career (before embarking on a solo career proper, however, she was also a member of short-lived musical unit Uncle Dog, recording an album with them entitled Old Hat which was released in 1972). Her debut solo album, Warm Blood (1974), was recorded with members of Area Code 615 and the Average White Band.
Carol Grimes - Vocals. In 2003 after many years of not recording, I did an album, 'Mother', produced by my friend Ian Shaw; featuring among others, Annie Whitehead, Jose Cupido, Harry Becket, Stan Adler, Steve Watts, Elton Dean, Mark Fletcher, and Greg Wain, another Shout singer, playing Guitars. Later on in that decade I recorded some of my performance poetry in a CD called 'Something Secret. My previous recordings are all listed on my web site. In the last few years I have been working with the pianist Dorian Ford, doing live work and composing
