Together with the London Symphony Orchestra, Rowicki proceeded to record all nine complete Dvorak symphonies, and you'll hear the breathtaking results here along with the Czech master's Carnival; My Country; Othello, and Husitska overtures. The symphonies: No. 1 in C Minor "The Bells of Zlonice"; No. 2 in B Flat; No. 3 in E Flat; No. 4 in D Minor; No. 5 in F; No. 6 in D; No. 7 in D Minor; No. 8 in G, and the immortal No. 9 in E Minor "From the New World.

Witold Rowicki's cycle of the symphonies of Antonin Dvorák with the London Symphony released on Philips in the late '60s and early '70s was only the second complete cycle of those works ever recorded. The first, István Kertész's Decca set from the mid-'60s, was also with the LSO. Rowicki's cycle has one huge advantage over Kertész's: the London musicians really knew the early symphonies after having learned them under the Hungarian conductor, and their playing here is much more polished than it was prior.

Czech composer Antonín Dvořák (1841–1904) composed his Symphony No. 6 in D major, Op. 60, B. 112, in 1880. It was originally published as Symphony No. 1 and is dedicated to Hans Richter, who was the conductor of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. With a performance time of approximately 40 minutes, the four-movement piece was one of the first of Dvořák’s large symphonic works to draw international attention.
