The Snow Queen" (Danish: Snedronningen) is an original fairy tale written by Danish author Hans Christian Andersen. The tale was first published 21 December 1844 in New Fairy Tales. The story centres on the struggle between good and evil as experienced by Gerda and her friend, Kai.

First Story Which Deals With A Mirror And Its Fragments. The snow-flakes grew bigger and bigger, till at last they looked like big white chickens. All at once they sprang on one side, the big sledge stopped and the person who drove got up, coat and cap smothered in snow. It was a tall and upright lady all shining white, the Snow Queen herself. We have come along at a good pace,’ she said; ‘but it’s cold enough to kill one; creep inside my bearskin coat. She took him into the sledge by her, wrapped him in her furs, and he felt as if he were sinking into a snowdrift.

It is possible to read the Snow Queen as the homewrecker, and Gerda as the good wife who must faithfully pursue her errant husband, represented by Kay, but I don't think Andersen intended that, or that the story actually is that. I think it's more likely that Andersen intended another possible reading: that of a Christian allegory, where both Gerda and Kay are, at times, led astray and forget what is right (Kay due to the shard of glass; Gerda due to the witch's enchantment), but eventually find their way back to the Faith & redemption and live in innocence and.

Hans Christian Andersen (Author). The Snow Queen is a great story, if you want to read it at that level, with a steady quick pace and just one twist after another that loops into a seamless ending. But if you want to dig deeper, the book has a lot to say about love, civilization, politics, justice, and how it is that we come to be who we are.

This is a fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen, translated into English. It is the greatest story of all time. Get notified when The Snow Queen (By Hans Christian Andersen) is updated. Continue with GoogleContinue.
