One of Ken Dodd's most notable acts was arguably Ken Dodd and his Diddy Men. The Diddy Men - Diddy meaning 'small' - were created by Dodd for his stage. Some of the more notable Diddy Men included: Dicky Mint, Mick the Marmalizer, Stephen Tich Doyle, Little Evan, Hamish McDiddy, Nigel Ponsonby-Smallpiece, Nicky Nugget, Sid Short and Smarty Arty. They even had a song called The Song Of The Diddy Men, which was released as a single. However, the history of the Diddy Men goes back further than just Dodd. According to reports, Diddy Men have existed in Merseyside mythology and used to be referred to by Liverpudlian comic Arthur Askey
