King Crimson Songbook, Volume 2 is a music studio album recording by CRIMSON JAZZ TRIO (Jazz ive Rock) released in 2009 on cd, lp, vinyl and/or cassette. Second album by mostly acoustic trio, founded by ex-King Crimson drummer Ian Wallace. As it is stated in their name - they are jazz trio, and it's absolutely true. This time another KC-related musician - Mel Collins is collaborated as guest on sax.

Second album by mostly acoustic trio, founded by ex-King Crimson drummer Ian Wallace. Musical material is all well known - great King Crimson compositions, just seriously reworked to become contemporary jazz pieces ( some vocals are presented as well). The second and (tragically) last chapter of their re-imagined KC catalogue stretched out even more than Volume One: interpolating original material, adding vocals, and reuniting drummer Ian Wallace with his erstwhile Crimson bandmate Mel Collins. Both had appeared in the 21st Century Schizoid Band, but that was strictly a nostalgia act.

Melvyn Desmond "Mel" Collins (born 5 September 1947, Isle of Man) is a British saxophonist, flautist and session musician. Collins is perhaps best known for his work in progressive rock, having been a member of King Crimson on two separate occasions (the first from 1970 to 1972 and the second from 2013 to the present day) and having played with Camel, the Alan Parsons Project and Chris Squire. He has also worked in a wide variety of contexts ranging from R&B and blues rock to jazz.

The band finished recording a second album, King Crimson Songbook, Volume Two, with assistance from Jakko Jakszyk and Mel Collins (Wallace's colleagues in 21st Century Schizoid Band; Collins is also a King Crimson alumnus) before Wallace died on February 22, 2007. It was released on April 7, 2009 on Inner Knot Records. King Crimson Songbook Volume One (2005). King Crimson Songbook Volume Two with Mel Collins (2009).
