Early life and education . Splendor in the Grass is the fourth full-length album from the band Pink Martini. It was released in October 27, 2009 on their own label Heinz Records. A strikingly rare track and a one-time collaboration, "Splendor in the Grass" was cut as a demo for possible use as the theme for the film of the same name. Jackie DeShannon was clearly one of the earliest and strongest supporters of the Byrds before they hit with "Mr. Tambourine Man," and the band was so enamored of her patronage that they were happy to help her cut this demo when she needed a backing band.
