The West Coast or Pacific Coast is the coastline along which the continental Western United States meets the North Pacific Ocean. As a region, this term most often refers to the coastal states of California, Oregon, Washington, and Alaska. More specifically, it refers to an area defined on the east by the Alaska Range, Cascade Range, Sierra Nevada, and Mojave Desert, and on the west by the Pacific Ocean

The West Coast Conference (WCC) is a collegiate athletic conference affiliated in NCAA Division I consisting of ten member schools across the states of California, Oregon, Utah and Washington. All of the current members are private, faith-based institutions. Seven members are Catholic Church affiliates, with four of these schools being Jesuit institutions. Pepperdine is an affiliate of the Churches of Christ.

Mosby toured with the Tennessee Ten in the 1910s, and also led his own ensemble in Chicago. He then moved to California early in the 1920s, where he opened a record store and then toured with Mamie Smith. He also led a band called the Blue Blowers in California. He took an extended residency in 1924 at Solomon's Dance Pavilion in Los Angeles; this ensemble recorded privately, and some of these cuts have survived. The band recorded for Columbia Records in 1927, and included Jake Porter, Les Hite, and Henry Starr as sidemen

The album was received indifferently on release, but has since become critically acclaimed. It ranked on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. Artist of Note: Joe Gordon, veteran trumpet player who recorded intermittently with Charlie Parker in the early ’50s, then Blakey and the young Donald Byrd, and was a stalwart of the Gillespie big band. At the end of the 50s he was recording on the West Coast with Shelley Manne, Dexter Gordon, and here, Harold Land. The reason you may not be overly familiar with Gordon – I wasn’t – is that his recording career was tragically cut short in late 1963, as a result of a house fire.

Henry Starr was one of the most notorious criminals of the Old West, famed far and wide for robbing two banks in the same town at the same time-a feat even.
