The Midsummer Station is the fourth studio album by American electronica project Owl City. It was released on August 17, 2012, by Universal Republic Records. After Owl City's previous album, All Things Bright and Beautiful (2011), sold 143,000 copies in the United States, Adam Young began working on demo tracks for The Midsummer Station in January 2012. Unlike his previous albums, Young worked with different songwriters and producers for the first time, including Stargate and Emily Wright.

The Midsummer Station is the 4th studio album released by Owl City and was released August 21, 2012. After Owl City's previous album, (2011) sold only 143,000 copies in the United States, began working on demo tracks for The Midsummer Station in January 2012.

Adam Young may have started Owl City in his basement and sparked his buzz via Myspace, but he's now playing fully aboveground, with pop sensation Carly Rae Jespen joining Young for a duet on the sure-shot single "Good Time. High-powered producer Stargate is recruited to co-produce the modern pop confection "Shooting Star," while another big name, Kool Kojak, assists with "Take It All Away. The whole album has a sonically manipulated feel, with heavy compression and mechanized beats dominating every square inch

Album The Midsummer Station (2012). Label Universal Republic Records. Owl City "The Midsummer Station" (2012) album.

Owl City has never shied away from big-sounding pop with emo underpinnings, and The Midsummer Station goes as big as possible. Young brings in production assistance from hitmakers Stargate for the Euro-house rave touches of "Shooting Star" and co-writes several songs with Katy Perry writer/engineer Emily Wright. Electronic four-on-the-floor beats are huge, production is loud and garish, and the hooks announce themselves with all the subtlety of a sledgehammer. It's by-the-numbers big-budget pop, but the problem is how recycled the majority of The Midsummer Station feels and how.

The Midsummer Station-Acoustic EP (2013). Owl City did not release a full studio album in 2013, in spite of reports of such. In January 2013, Young stated that his new music would contain more EDM songs than his previous studio efforts. He hoped to record a song for the album with Ellie Goulding and claimed that his new album would be "edgy"

When I listen to an Owl City album, I get whisked off to a magical, whimsical world of sheer happiness and joy. His synth - pop is very soothing and bright, putting me in a good mood. Does his 2012 record "The Midsummer Station" take me to that imaginary world" Nowhere close. After hearing "Shooting Star", his teaser EP of this record, I knew it wasn't going to be nearly as good as "Ocean Eyes" or "All Things Bright And Beautiful", but I expected it to have the Owl City touch for sure
