One of these records that strangely escaped being recognized for its merits and beauty at the time and never had a lobby since then. Strong ensemble work with lots of counter point compositions and stunning melodies, driving hard bop, but not as funky as Horace Silver, more in the vein of the cool sophistication of Lennie Tristano. And, please name any weak jazz date from the 1960ies that has Ron Carter on the bass. (NB: Ron Carter substitutes Frank Traficante on their second LP: Another Dimension. Both records are absolutely worth checking out.)
