Peter Hammill, K-Group. Recorded live in Glasgow, Edinburgh, and London in December of 1983, The Margin - Live captures Peter Hammill in intellectual rock mode, rather than the acoustic style that he is often associated with. Hammill is backed by a superb band, the K Group (which includes John Ellis on guitar, Nic Potter on bass, and Guy Evans on drums and percussion), who are jaw-droppingly tight and technically brilliant. Amazingly, there are absolutely no overdubs found anywhere on the album.

My friends and I were totally obsessed Graaf/Hammill fans at that time and saw several shows of this tour. We followed them around from venue to venue and didn't get enough. A powerful rock band, with Nic Potter (hey! he talked to us after one show), Guy Evans (still one of my favourite drummers of all times) and John Ellis (formerly guitarist of the punk band Vibrators, but playing even harder here).
