Lyn Stanley - Interludes SACD . Music 3104 Released: 2015. It's a rare thing to discover an artist that emerges fully formed and ready for primer one right front the get-go - and then watch them improve. Jazz singer Lyn Stanley is among such select company. Before listening to this album I looked up the word interlude in the dictionary. According to Merriam-Graves, it means "a usually short simple play or dramatic entertainment. With no song lasting over five and a half minutes (most are just over three), each of the songs on this album could qualify as interludes. Taken together, they are an interlude in life - a short, dramatic pause in the hectic bustle of living.
It’s amazing to me that Lyn Stanley’s singing career began only four and a half years ago. Listening to her new CD, Interludes, her third full-length album, you’d think she’d been singing professionally her whole life. On this CD, she does some jazz standards, but also delivers some surprising choices of material, all of the songs in some way related to love and relationships. And she has a great band backing her, displaying undeniable talent while remaining in support of her vocals.
