Recently watching 2001: A Space Odyssey has somehow influenced the attraction of this album to me, passing through shifting neon patterns, along with deserted canyons and the clean yet cold emptiness of space. What really stands out with this album is how it can transform from grimy and wallowing in darkness and filth, to soaring above mirrored colored skyscrapers built three thousand years after your birth. Electronic music can be difficult to classify, describing it visually is sometimes more descriptive of the music.

Brighton-based producer Ital Tek will release his second album, Midnight Colour, next month on Planet Mu. Known to his friends as Alan Myson, Ital Tek has been pumping out moody post-dubstep tunes since 2006, and first made a splash two years ago with this debut album Cyclical, also released on Planet Mu. Midnight Colour is a bit less brooding than that release, but continues on the IDM-inspired dubstep tip, echoes of garage, scattered 4/4 rhythms and a tempo that stays down around 130 BPM. The album will be followed by an EP, Moment in Blue, featuring remixes by Ikonika and Falty DL, plus tw. .

MIDNIGHT COLOUR Vinyl Record. Songs like "Moonbow" or "Subgiant" embody an optimistic nocturnal reverie that counts the Black Dog's Bytes album as an ancestor. In contrast, "Satellite" has a darker feel with New-Romantic-style synth melodies set to a skeletal rhythm, and the surging, wordless vocals of "Black and White" are carried by gentle instrumentation and arrangements.
