Damned If You Do is the twelfth studio album by American heavy metal band Metal Church, which was released on December 7, 2018 through Rat Pak Records. This is their first release with former . drummer Stet Howland, who replaced longtime member Jeff Plate in 2017. Music videos were made for "Damned If You Do" and "By the Numbers".
Released in 2018, DAMNED IF YOU DO is Metal Church's twelfth album and is the second in a row to feature the group’s second frontman, Mike Howe, who originally sang for Metal Church in the late 80s/early 90s. This is their fifth album with Howe, which means Howe has now done more albums with the band than the other two singers. To be expected, DAMNED IF YOU DO is similar to the previous XI (2016); and not far removed from the four previous Ronny Munroe albums, except with Howe singing and less standout tracks in the manner of Wings of Tomorrow, Sunless Sky, More than Your Master, The Perfect Crime, Meet Your Maker and The Media Horse. Whether you prefer Munroe or Howe is a matter of personal taste. I like 'em both but neither possesses Wayne's special appeal, . his moving falsetto, but I prefer Munroe to Howe because he's closer to Wayne's style.

West Coast metal veterans METAL CHURCH will release their 12th full-length studio album, "Damned If You Do", on December 7 via Rat Pak Records. The latest release is the follow-up to 2016's "XI", which saw the return of legendary frontman Mike Howe. Damned If You Do" is described in a press release as "a cross between the band’s iconic 'Blessing In Disguise' and 'The Human Factor'.
Damned If You Do" is classic Metal Church, propelled by thunderous double bass kicks and riffing that toes the line between traditional and thrash. Singer Mike Howe, who was a member from 1988 through 1995, rejoining again in 2015, retains his signature snarl and delivers another instantly memorable chorus. I hope the fans enjoy this first video, it really sets the tone for the entire album. We are doing our best to keep metal alive Metal Church style," says Howe.
Stealing from you everything you wanted Pay the price in everything you do Can't escape ’cause you are being haunted Loving everything I stole from you. Falling, falling out of view It's calling, calling all of you You're damned if you do. Cast a spell and blind you to reflection Seeing only what I want you to There is nothing in me but deception Believing everything I want you to. Falling, falling out of view It’s calling, calling all of you You're damned if you do (Do) (Do) (Do).
Updated on March 12, 2019. Metal Church-"Damned If You Do". Rat Pak Records, 2018. 10 Tracks, Run Time: 45:26. The old school metal nation rejoiced when Metal Church announced that prodigal vocalist Mike Howe was returning to the band in 2016 after nearly a quarter century away
Metal Church is one of the most revered and classic heavy metal acts of the 1980’s, when they put out arguably some of the best traditional metal albums to date, the homonym juggernaut in 1984 and the orgasmic follow-up ‘The Dark’ (1986), all under the undeniably marvelous vocals of David Wayne (. Damned If You Do’ has an old-school vibe that reminds us of the same Metal Church we heard in the early 90’s and even some glimpses of the 80’s.
With vocalist Mike Howe’s return to Metal Church on 2016’s XI proving successful, it’s only logical that its follow-up Damned If You Do features similar elements. While the album features the same classic metal style as its predecessor, its songwriting is much more workmanlike in comparison. XI wasn’t the most revolutionary thing out there but its emphasis on adventurous vocal lines and song structures made it stand out in its late era comeback context. It could be argued that the more straightforward tracks are channeling the group’s thrashier past, but they’re ultimately too interchangeable to truly make an impact. Fortunately, there are still some memorable tracks on here
