The legacy of the Velvet Underground has grown to mythic proportions as the decades wear on, and their influence continues to impact new generations of musicians. Attempting to sum up the scope of their sonic achievements proves a difficult task and a wide variety of compilations and previously unearthed recordings keep surfacing, attempting to unravel the mystery of this short-lived and impossibly cool band from New York City.

Velvet Underground ~ Best Of Words & Music Of Lou Reed. Lou Reed's songs were always better when covered by other artists such as David Bowie. Lou Reed and company play like they're half asleep or they go to the other extreme and blast us with horrible noise.

The Velvet Underground (album). The Velvet Underground is the self-titled third studio album by American rock band the Velvet Underground. Released in March 1969, it was their first record with Doug Yule, who was a replacement for John Cale.

The Velvet Underground mark II made a stylistic shift towards intimacy, with Reed seeking redemption on songs such as Beginning to See the Light and Jesus. However, the album’s emotional centrepiece, Pale Blue Eyes, comes before them and ranks as Reed’s best love song. Sometimes I feel so happy, Sometimes I feel so sad, Reed says to his lover; Morrison’s subtle guitar and Tucker’s tambourine create a gentle foil for him to confess his feelings.
