Patty Smyth is the second solo studio album by rock singer-songwriter Patty Smyth, formerly of Scandal, which went gold, as a result of the popularity of its first single, "Sometimes Love Just Ain't Enough", which peaked at number two on the Billboard Hot 100 and also went Gold. The album also produced two further singles in the opening track "No Mistakes" (top 40) and another, albeit minor, hit in "I Should Be Laughing". No Mistakes" (Patty Smyth, Kevin Savigar) 5:23.

In 1987, she released her first solo album, "Never Enough", with the title track as the lead-in single. Co-written by Eric Bazilian and Rob Hyman of the Hooters, the song only made it to on the Billboard Hot 100, but made the Top 5 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart, peaking at Five years later, Smyth had better chart success as a soloist when "Sometimes Love Just Ain't Enough", featuring Don Henley, peaked at on both the Billboard Hot 100 and Cash Box Top 100 (but did hit on the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart and on the UK Singles chart)

Never Enough is the debut album by former Scandal singer Patty Smyth. It was released in 1987 on Columbia Records (also the group's label) three years after the band's breakup in 1984. In an interview with Smyth on The Bloomberg Report, she said the album "was never supposed to be a solo record; it was meant to be a record by Scandal Featuring Patty Smyth. The first of these two, "Never Enough" (the album's title track) was actually a slight rewrite of a song with the same title from the self-titled debut album of then-current (in 1987) Hooters bandmembers Rob Hyman and Eric Bazilian's former band, Baby Grand. The original version featured different lyrics sung by Baby Grand frontman David Kagan. In fact, Hyman and Bazilian, as well as others associated with The Hooters, including producer Rick Chertoff had a significant hand in the making of this album.

of hero Catch me again I'm falling 'Cause I can hear you calling. It's never enough, it's never enough It's never enough It's never enough, it's never enough It's never enough

Smyth released her first solo album, Never Enough, in 1987. It contained her version of the Tom Waits song "Downtown Train," which Rod Stewart would make a hit three years later, and the title track "Never Enough," which was co-written with members of the Hooters and based on a song of the same title that Hooters members Eric Bazilian and Rob Hyman had written for their earlier band, Baby Grand. She put out another solo effort in 1992, the eponymous Patty Smyth  . Smyth subsequently co-wrote the 1994 song "Look What Love Has Done," nominated for a Grammy and an Academy Award after its inclusion in the soundtrack to the feature film Junior.
