Marillion And The Positive Light - Tales From The Engine Room download mp3 album
Marc Mitchell and his manager at the time Mark Daghorn spent a year remixing some tunes from progressive rock band Marillion's album "This strange engine". The hard work resulted in a very unique sounding album with hints from both trancy progressive house, intelligent progressive rock and deep, melodic downtempo. Very diverse styles, yes, but somehow Mitchell managed to put the listener on a "journey" through the whole album. The vocal opener "Estonia" is one of the most emotional songs, all categories, I've ever heard
Tales from the Engine is indeed an "album" for the Marillion completionists. This is an experiment on the part of Marillion and trance music duo The Positive Light, remixing material from This Strange Engine to create a trance reinterpretation of the album.
This Strange Engine is the ninth studio album by the British neo-progressive rock band Marillion, released in April 1997 by the Castle Communications imprint Raw Power. It was the first of the three recordings that Marillion made on a contract with Castle between being dropped by EMI Records in 1995 and eventually going independent in 2000. The album was recorded at The Racket Club in Buckinghamshire, England, between August and November 1996 and was produced by the band themselves. A remix of the album, conducted by the electronic music project Positive Light, was released in January 1998 by Eagle Records as Tales from the Engine Room.

The remix of "Memory of Water" was a minor dance club hit in Europe, prompting the general release of the album (the initial release was privately labeled).
Tales from the Engine Room Remix Album: Released January 1998, Reissued to retail June 1998. In 1996, Positive Light approached us with a project: to remix an entire album. As we had just finished This Strange Engine, we provided masters for 'Estonia'. When the remix came back, we were convinced: Positive Light seemed to have an element in their work that we hadn't often heard in the genre before - depth of emotion, empathy, soul or whatever you want to call something that elevates music above mere entertainment. This was the debut release by Marillion, and really an EP in its own right. The 3 tracks were never put on any studio album, but have been included on the remastered version of Script.
