The Keith Jarrett Trio, playing live at NDR Funkhaus, Hamburg in July 1972. The trio with Haden and Motian was Jarrett’s first great band, his choice of players a masterstroke. Charlie and Paul hadn’t worked together until Jarrett brought them into each other’s orbit in 1966. The Hamburg concert dates from the beginning of ECM’s association with Keith Jarrett, whose solo album Facing You had been recorded the previous November and released just three months before this show. In the US, Keith Jarrett had begun to include saxophonist Dewey Redman in his group music and the trio was in the process of morphing into the group colloquially known as Jarrett’s American Quartet. Several of the Jarrett tunes heard here, amongst them Everything That Lives Laments and Piece for Ornette, would also find expression in the quartet repertoire.

This double album, long anticipated, presents Keith Jarrett’s concert at the Gran Teatro La Fenice in Venice, from July 2006. The setting – one of Italy’s most famous classical venues – may evoke some parallels with La Scala, the pianist’s much-loved 1995 recording, but each of Jarrett’s solo performances is its own world, his protean creativity continually bringing new forms to light. Between Part VI and Part VII, Jarrett surprisingly but very touchingly segues into The Sun Whose Rays, from Gilbert and Sullivan’s opera The Mikado. Encores are the traditional tune My Wild Irish Rose (previously recorded by Jarrett on The Melody At Night With You), the timeless standard Stella By Starlight, which the trio with Gary Peacock and Jack DeJohnette often played (see for instance the albums Standards Live and Yesterdays).

Still Live is a live album by American pianist Keith Jarrett's "Standards Trio" featuring Gary Peacock and Jack DeJohnette recorded in concert in July, 1986 at the Philharmonic Hall in Munich and released on the ECM label. My Funny Valentine" (Lorenz Hart, Richard Rodgers) - 10:51.

This one is unusual in that it is one long improvised piece accompanied by the excellent tune titled 'The Wind' and the Jarrett ends the show, well the LP in any case with some 'Blues' which lightens up the seriousness of the main track which can be at times fragmented and diffuse. This album captures Keith Jarrett on German radio in 1972, shortly before his landmark solo gig in Cologne. It’s an unbridled excursion for the mindblowingly intuitive trio of Jarrett, bassist Charlie Haden and drummer Paul Motian. Jarrett plays flute and wild soprano saxophone at times, and there’s plenty of piano virtuosity, full of typically slashing long lines and methodical buildups, some gospel-like Jarrett funk (Take Me Back), and slowly massaged ballads
