Astronaut Meets Appleman’, the new album – out now. Tourdates, news, music & more. Astronaut Meets Appleman – Out Now.
Album · 2016 · 10 Songs. Astronaut Meets Appleman King Creosote.
Astronaut Meets Appleman explores the tensions and unity between tradition and modernity, the old and new, as King Creosote ultimately tries to figure out exactly where he figures. Borne out of an anxiety with social media and technology, the album harks back to a time free from the internet and the incessant subjectivity it brings – a time when children tangibly enjoy the landscape around them rather than watch it through a mobile phone
Kenny Anderson (born January 1967), known primarily by his stage name King Creosote, is an independent singer-songwriter from Fife, Scotland. To date, Anderson has released over forty albums, with his latest, Astronaut Meets Appleman, released in 2016. Anderson is also a member of Scottish-Canadian band The Burns Unit. In 2011, Anderson's collaborative album with Jon Hopkins, Diamond Mine, was nominated for the Mercury Prize and the Scottish Album of the Year Award.
Astronaut Meets Appleman might very well be King Creosote’s masterpiece. It is at once ethereal and contemplative, grounded and matter-of-fact.
Throughout the course of his extensive career, Kenny Anderson (. King Creosote) has been quite a prolofic artist, having put out over forty studio albums up to date. His new record, the melancholic Astronaut Meets Appleman reflects upon life, death, lust and belonging, with his usual crooning vocal style and many, many folk surroundings. This album brings in a wider use of chamber instruments, if compared to some of his latest previous works, although the real charm may be found on his.
