Discothèque" is the lead single from Irish rock band U2's 1997 album, Pop. It peaked at number one in many countries' charts, including the UK Singles Chart. A 30-second sample of "Discothèque" was leaked to the Internet on 26 October 1996. By 27 December, the entire track had been leaked, after which U2 moved the release date forward. Discothèque" debuted at on the US Modern Rock Tracks chart, and hit the following week

Discothèque was the first single released to promote the Pop album. The initial plan was to release the track to radio in late January 1997, but the date had to be moved forward, to the beginning of that month, due to several leaks on the Internet. In fact, one snippet of the song, taken from an Electronic Press Kit video, had been circulating since October 26, 1996. A live performance of Discothèque, recorded in Mexico City on December 3, 1997, can be found on both the Hasta La Vista Baby! fan club album and PopMart: Live from Mexico City video, as well as on some versions of the Beautiful Day single. Discothèque was included on The Best of 1990-2000 compilation, albeit in the form of a new, rockier version with additional production and mixing by Mike Hedges, called Discothèque (New Mix).

Soul Jazz provided the even more extensive (and less disco-flavored) New York Noise, 1979-1982 and last year No More Records' popped-up to offer the definitive 32-track DNA on DNA, which includes all of the DNA tracks from No New York. Ditto for Mars' The Complete Studio Recordings: NYC 1977-1978, out on G3G/Spooky Sound in 2003. No Wave itself sprung up namelessly circa 1977 as a reaction to punk, new wave, and New York City itself. One of No Wave's more outspoken progenitors, Lydia Lunch famously dissed punk as no more than "sped-up Chuck Berry riffs"

They had this hunger to make new music. Pop is a magic album. I listen to it, there's music there, songs, beats ' . The longest wait (4 years) for an album at the time, but high expectations remained unfulfilled. On the Popmart tour, U2 should have opened with Discotheque, Mofo is the weakest concert opener of all their tours. Happy 20th to Pop. On this 20th anniversary of Pop's release, let me say "Thank you, U2," for adding a wonderful set of songs to my life's soundtrack.

The New York City Discotheque was fantastic Disco Club, that it existed in Rio De Janeiro between 1976 and 1980. Up to 1978, Ricardo Lamounier was its great DJ. From there in other DJs they had ahead assumed pick-ups, however without the same success. The mixed records of the New York City Discotheque had been a total of 10 albuns. Lamounier mixed and produced first the 5. The following volumes would be produced by other DJs as Ivan Romero (famous broadcaster, who commanded an important one and known radio show: The CITY RECORD CLUB, in an important radio FM of Rio De Janeiro) and for a DJ, pioneer in the balls of black music, mr Funk Santos. The DJ Lamounier died in 1988, victim of a cerebral tumor. It passed for other important night clubs inside and outside of Brazil, as for example: Le (78 Paris) and Studio 54 (NYC). The New York City Discotheque and its fabulosos mixed records livened up parties in entire Brazil. The DJ Lamounier influenced all a generation of DJs since years 70 until today. Good Vibes Sees DJ From Rio/Brazil.
