Iron Maiden was formed on Christmas day in 1975 by Steve Harris, who recruited guitarists Dave Sullivan and Terry Rance, drummer Ron Matthews, and vocalist Paul Day. Day, who lacked stage presence, was quickly replaced by Dennis Wilcock.
Founded in Leyton in London's East End in 1975, Iron Maiden released their first album in 1980 as a five-piece with Paul Di'Anno on vocals. Bruce Dickinson would replace him in 1981. With several line-up changes Steve Harris would remain the only original member never to have had a hiatus. When Bruce Dickinson quit in 1994 and was replaced by Wolfsbane's Blaze Bayley, the band lost a lot of their fanbase
Iron Maiden decided to ditch the illustrations and instead gave us this version of Eddie undergoing a lobotomy. This is also the debut of their replacement vocalist: Blaze Bayley. html Unpopular Opinion - I thought this album was alright. They ultimately didn't use it in its entirety, but they did take the Smoking Eddie and re-purpose it for the main Album Art (viewed above in the clouds). A closer shot of the Burning Eddie. Notice all the little people burning inside.
