Last night a two dollar toy made a million dollar daddy out of me. Last night I woke up like I done many times before But this time I had evil on my mind I quietly packed my clothes and headed for the door But in the hallway stumbled and fell over a toy. My little girl says daddy cover me And daddy please don't go That's when the love in my heart Overruled the thought I had in my mind Last night a two dollar toy made a million dollar daddy out of me. I'd felt a two feet tall as I walked by down the hall Put my clothes back on the rack where they belong I lit a smoke and I though.

Hux's 2005 two-fer Stoney Edwards/She's My Rock is the first time Stoney Edwards' first two albums have been released on CD, thereby righting one of the major wrongs within country reissues. Edwards has been perennially overlooked over the years, the kind of singer who only hardcore country fans know about - which, in a way, is appropriate, since he was a pure hard country singer who adhered to the classic '60s honky tonk sound. A Two Dollar Toy. Stoney Edwards.

22 years old at the time – and already a Hip Hop veteran, LL Cool J felt it was necessary to knock out all critics who said he fell off with his third album, Walking With A Panther. The song was produced by Marley Marl and uses samples from James Brown’s Funky Drummer, the Chicago Gangsters’ Gangster Boogie, Sly & The Family Stone’s Trip to Your Heart the drum break from Digital Underground’s The Humpty Dance, and LL Cool J’s own Rock the Bells. Passin’ Me By is one of the big tracks off their epic debut album Bizarre Ride II The Pharcyde and an undisputed Hip Hop classic. 9. Ice Cube - It Was A Good Day (1992). This feel-good hood anthem is not just Ice Cube’s best song, but one of the best songs in Hip Hop, period. 10. Mobb Deep - Shook Ones Pt 2 (1995).

Hip-hop was about poor kids taking broken pieces of the world around them and putting them back together. This was the true break with history-the end of the beginning, if not the beginning of the end. As complicated as it was creative, as contradictory as it was all-conquering, the story of hip-hop's eventual aesthetic takeover starts in the '80s. From artists like Slick Rick to the Fresh Prince, Public Enemy to the 2Live Crew, .  . The art of the hip-hop album was perfected by the close of this remarkable decade. All these years later some discs sound dated while others feel fresher than ever. Which records have stood the test of time?
