Ray Miller's Orchestra discography. A history of Jazz before 1930. This site contains over 3000 songs from this era in Real Audio 3 format, as well as hundreds of biographies and discographies of Jazz musicians. His jazz output was limited, however. One more title from this period, Harlem Madness also features a heavily Bix-influenced trumpet solo. Ray Miller's story has to end here. The next six months he had two more recording sessions which did not produce anything jazz-worthy At a relatively young age he disappeared from the scene. Ray Miller was a popular bandleader of the 1920s who performed and recorded with various top-notch musicians under such names as Ray Miller and His Orchestra, Ray Miller’s Orchestra and Ray Miller and His Brunswick Orchestra. Starting off as a singing waiter in 1916 in Chicago, he made his way to New York where he started his first band, The Black and White Melody Boys, playing mostly Dixieland jazz. They recorded tracks on various labels from 1920 to 1923.
