The year 2012 turned out to be a strong one for rock albums. Trip the Darkness' was a dark sounding gem off the record, and the song got an extra boost when a remix by Dillinger Escape Plan's Ben Weinman appeared on the 'Underworld: Awakening' soundtrack. Fire' showed off a more radio-friendly side, while 'End of Time' served as the band's late year ballad. The disc also included an interesting cover of . s 'Losing My Religion.

This is a rare occurrence: An album is hyped up to be absolutely fantastic, delivers on its promise, and everyone seems to agree. Revel in this, because who knows when AOTY. org will ever see something like it again. The first time I heard the Palmolive sample and instrumental, I started to actually CRY! I didn't get any sleep thanks to this fuckin' album.

The album was released by Columbia in with no marketing back-up, and became the lowest selling record in the label’s history up until that point. Who released the first ever rock opera? If you said The Who, then go immediately into remedial rock classes. This album came out in December 1968, nearly six months before Tommy. Well, they were on the little known Nasco label, which might explain the commercial constipation. But what these six tracks show is a young band who even in this formative part of their career had a grasp of how to impress through their creativity without toppling over into the torpor of self-indulgence.

The debut album of the Dutch Atmospheric Blackened Death Metal band founded by Nimblkorg and Skirge. Life just runs its course; no entity to blame No swarm of spiteful locusts, to plunder in his holy name I've seen both past and future; the rape of life to be So I will do what must be done; revealed to me. Visions of mass destruction amassing strength within my soul A cage to hold the fury of the grim works beyond my grasp I can see their temple of Lies appearing in front of me An empire of wrath and exile which was never supposed to be.

The first art-rock album, it merges dreamy, druggy balladry ('Sunday Morning') with raw and uncompromising sonic experimentation ('Venus in Furs'), and is famously clothed in that Andy Warhol-designed 'banana' sleeve. Lou Reed's lyrics depicted a Warholian New York demi-monde where hard drugs and sexual experimentation held sway. The emergence of hip hop and this album from Blige and her mentor and producer Sean 'Puffy' Combs (aka P Diddy) gave birth to a new gritty sound, informed by the singer's harrowing past. no R&B/soul divide, which means no TLC, Beyonce, or Ashanti, to name just three. Obliterators of rap's boundaries, Massive Attack pioneered the cinematic trip hop movement.
