Honeyman is a previously unreleased live 1973 radio broadcast in excellent sound, that offers a valuable supplement to Tim Buckley's often disappointing final albums. Buckley's last LPs were marred by unsympathetic . production, and this presents the material with much sparser, focused, and appropriate arrangements. As the songs originate mostly from the Sefronia and Greetings from . records (although a couple of songs from the '60s do appear), this couldn't be placed among his best work, or even among his best live albums (Dream Letter and Live at the Troubadour 1969.

Honeyman: Live 1973 is a live album by Tim Buckley. The album was recorded as a live radio broadcast for radio station WLIR in New York City, United States on November 27, 1973. The concert features songs from Buckley's seventh studio album Greetings from . and his 1973 studio album Sefronia. Also featured are the songs Pleasant Street from Goodbye and Hello and Buzzin' Fly from the album Happy Sad. This live album is an example of his transformation from a late 60's folk rock poster boy to a sexualized funk and soul musician.

Buckley recorded his self-titled debut album in three days in Los Angeles, in August 1966. He was generally unhappy with his albums after the fact; he described this one as "like Disneyland". The record featured Buckley and a backing band of Orange County friends, including Underwood, whose mix of jazz and country improvisation on a twangy Telecaster guitar became a distinctive part of Buckley's early sound.
